Meetings, hearing nearby on wind projects

Credit:  The Advertiser-Tribune | Aug 21, 2018 | www.advertiser-tribune.com ~~

The company behind one of two wind projects planned for Seneca County is to host a trio of informational sessions about the proposed development in Attica beginning today.

The entity behind the wind project, sPower, plans to have representatives there to give a presentation and answer questions. The open houses are set for 5-7 p.m. today, 1-3 p.m. Wednesday and 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Attica Fairgrounds Social Hall.

Seneca Wind is a proposed 200 megawatt wind farm to be located in Scipio, Reed, Venice, Eden and Bloom townships. The project is to locate up to 70 turbines across 25,000 acres of privately leased land.

The other project, the proposed Republic Wind Farm, would situate up to 58 turbines across some 24,000 acres of leased private land in Adams, Pleasant, Reed, Scipio and Thompson townships, plus land in Sandusky County.

We encourage all county residents, regardless of whether they live in one of the townships where the turbines would be located, to attend one of the open houses and become more informed about the project.

Also, the Ohio Power Siting Board is to have a hearing in Green Springs to allow the public to express their views about the Republic Wind proposal. The public hearing is set for 6 p.m. Oct. 2 at the VFW Post, 5900 SR 778.

Be informed and be involved.
