Wind farm decision on hold

Plans for a three-turbine wind farm near Roos are due to be brought back before councillors.

Members of East Riding Council’s planning committee this afternoon voted in favour of delaying an application for the Tedder Hill wind farm.

Councillors demanded a full report into the impact the turbines would have on the area to be brought back before the committee at a later date.

The report is to include a survey on the potential impact on leisure and tourism in the area.

The application, submitted by energy company E.on UK, was for a site near Pilmar Lane, Roos.

Earlier in today’s meeting, another two proposals for wind farms near the village were refused planning permission.

Campaigners said they were delighted with the outcome.

Cherie Blenkin, chairman of South Holderness Opposes Wind Turbines (Showt) said: “This is exactly the result we wanted – two farms turned down for the right reasons and the other delayed for more information.

“These applications can’t be rushed through. It is in the interests of everyone that they are properly considered.”
