(Clearview Township) –
Even though the testimony is done at the hearing of an appeal of a wind turbine development near Stayner, the issue isn’t dying down.
Simcoe County Warden Gerry Marshall says he will be taking a flight next week over the area where the eight turbines would go.
He says Simcoe County joined the appeal because of the concerns of Clearview Township and the town of Collingwood, which are also involved in the appeal.
Marshall adds the turbines will affect economic development because they will have a bearing on the potential of the Collingwood Regional Airport and people will choose to go elsewhere.
He says tourism will be affected for the same reasons.
He adds the County will have spent about 125 thousand dollars on the appeal when all is said and done.
Opponents say the turbines will be in the flight path of the airport.
The province awarded the wind farm project to WPD Canada.
The decision from the Environmental Review Tribunal is expected in August.
