A man has been killed in a workplace accident in Co Donegal.

The incident occurred shortly after 11am yesterday in Meenadreen, close to Donegal town.

It’s believed the man, who is in his late 20s, was clearing trees at the time of the incident.

Emergency services were called, but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

His remains were taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where a postmortem is due to take place.

Two separate investigations surrounding the man’s death have been launched by the Gardai and the Health and Safety Authority.

It is understood that the man had been working on the €145m Meenadreen wind farm extension project when the tragedy occurred.
