Probe into ‘planning fraud’ claims

Credit:  Cambrian News Online | 04 September 2014 | www.cambrian-news.co.uk ~~

Council officials have launched an investigation – after claims that names in support of a controversial wind turbine application in Llanaelhaearn have been used without people’s permission.

An application has been made by community group Antur Aelhaearn for the erection of a 67-metre wind turbine at Moelfre Bach.

But Gwynedd Council told the Cambrian News that concerns have been raised with them over the validity of some letters of support submitted to the council.

Gwynedd Council is now writ-ing to every person named in representations on the application to check if comments were submitted without their knowledge.

The plans were due to go before Gwynedd Council’s planning committee on Monday, but councillors voted to postpone discussing the matter at the request of the applicants, and also to hold a site visit. It had been recommended for refusal.

Carl Clowes from Antur Aelhaearn, said: “I have nothing to say on the validity of the letters sent to the council – either for or against – other than to welcome the authority`s wish for transparency and to support their action.
