Wind turbines are hard to recycle

In response to our Soundoff question: “Would you accept having a wind turbine in sight of where you live?” (May 7)

Definitely not! Wind power is classified as a renewable resource because it uses a renewable energy source, wind. However, the huge turbines that enable this wind power to be turned into useful energy are only good for about 15-20 years. After that, they are disposed of much like the scraps from your supper last night.

The only problem is, the wind turbines are a tad larger than your supper. Not only is the technology very expensive to implement, it is also very expensive to “decommission.” Not to mention that the turbines are an eyesore for any community while taking up a ridiculous amount of land that could be put to better use.
