Nextera project hits snag; Concern over Nextera Energy’s wind farm project in Bluewater

The proposed transmission line locate for Nextera Energy’s Bluewater Wind Farm project has hit a snag.

Huron East CAO Brad Knight says the developer had planned to co-locate its line with the existing Hydro One power lines passing through the municipality, and ending at the Seaforth transmission station.

Knight tells us Hydro One has balked at the developer’s request and is withholding permission.

The CAO says residents living along the proposed route have advised him that what Nextera is now planning in unacceptable.

A Centennial Road couple have been told by the developer that it now plans to run its line along the opposite side of the road from Hydro’s poles.

Knight says residents worry about the possible loss of trees and the Municipality is concerned about number of problems.
