Public inquiry over wind farm

A public Inquiry to determine a proposed wind farm on land to the east of Grove, near Retford, will begin later this month.
The inquiry will start on 23rd January at Retford Town Hall and is expected to last around 12 days.
Plans to build a wind farm were submitted to Bassetlaw Council last year and were discussed at a planning meeting in October.
Members agreed not to determine the application themselves as it should go to a public inquiry but said that had they taken the decision, it would have been refused.
The application, relating to land to the east of the village of Grove, was made by Renewable Energy Systems Ltd (RES) who want to build 10 turbines, an electrical sub-station and a control building.
They also want to build an 80m high freestanding mast, fit underground cabling and alter the existing access as well as creating a new access.
When the application was submitted, there was a lot of opposition from local residents, two airports and the Ministry of Defence.
Both Robin Hood Airport and Gamston Airport raised concerns about radar interference.
During the public inquiry, witnesses are expected to appear on behalf of Bassetlaw Council, the Grove Against Windfarms Group, Notts Wildlife Trust, Doncaster Sheffield Airport and the applicant RES.
The appeal is against the non-determination of the planning application by Bassetlaw Council.
Following the inquiry, the planning inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government will make the final decision on whether to give the scheme the go-ahead.
