Group seeks to save Horse Heaven ridges from wind project

Their website includes the statement:
A number of residents who live at, or near the Horse Heaven Hills, or have a clear view of the area have teamed with other concerned citizens, and are seeking to oppose a massive wind turbine project that would snake it’s way along the ridges of the Horse Heaven Hills southeast of Kennewick.
The group has a newer website, save-our-ridges.org, and it contains a lot of information about the group, their mission statement as well as details about the proposed wind farm.
We also reported about the creation of the group opposing this project in a story from last October.
The project has been in the works for a while, at least a year or two, and according to the save our ridges site:
“The Horse Heaven Hills Wind Farm is a project planned by Scout Clean Energy of Boulder Colorado. The wind farm will be on 60,000 acres of farmland consisting of up to 235 wind turbines, each one 500 foot tall. The turbines will be in rows 24 long along our Southern skyline.”
The site includes links to a variety of topics; from the economics and politics of wind farms, a Benton PUD perspective, renewable energy done right, and renewable energy done wrong. Some examples of this are included on the site, the multiple turbines seen south of the Tri-Cities and the wind farms that are seemingly right on ‘top’ of the Maryhill Stonehenge along SR 14 and the Columbia River.
The website also contains links for contact, questions and answers, and appears to be a very thorough look at this big project. According to the site, as of February 8, Scout Energy cleared another hurdle in the application process towards making the farm a reality.
