No wind farm at East Point

The road to hell can be paved with “green” intentions. Currently in P.E.I. we have, on one hand, the entire forested landscape of the province designated in 2019 under the Canada Nature Fund and on the other, a proposed wind farm project at East Point.
East Point is a pristine area of one of P.E.I.’s largest, most remote, natural and unexploited land bodies, a refuge for domestic and migratory species. Under the Canada Nature Fund, a new conservation approach would focus on multiple species and eco-systems. The proponent of the wind farm project is the P.E.I. Energy Corp., a Crown corporation. The wind farm would have seven huge turbines, 57 storeys high. The sole advantage of the East Point location cited by Energy Corp. is a nearby transmission line.
Winds on P.E.I. are favourable for generation of electricity almost anywhere. It’s time for this not-so-green wind project to hit the road.
