Residents in North Kildare says they are devastated that An Bord Pleanala has overturned Kildare County Council’s decision and granted planning permission for a wind farm there.
KCC declined permission, in December, to North Kildare Wind Farms Ltd, for the project in the townlands of Ballynamullagh, Coolree, Drehid, Dunfierth, Killyon, Kilmurry and Mulgeeth.
It includes up to 12 number wind turbines with a tip height of up to 169 metres
That decision was appealed to ABP.
It has granted permission, and attached 15 conditions.
ABP has published its 100 page inspector’s report, which it takes in to consideration in making its decision.
This includes a section on the site’s planning history.
The Inspectors Report notes that the previously proposed 47 turbine Maighne Windfarm was granted permission, on appeal.
ABP refused permission for this project.
Sheila O’Brien lives in Carbury and is of the Kildare Environmental Awareness Group.
Speaking to Kildare Today, she says the inspector’s report must be withdrawn.
