Wind farm extension proposal

Plans have been submitted to extend the life of a west Cumbrian wind farm.

A planning application has been to Copeland Council requesting an extension to the operational life of the Park House wind farm, north of Lowca.

The wind farm, which consists of seven turbines, first began generating power in March 2000.

Now, firm Cannock Wind Farm Services is asking Copeland council for planning permission to extend the operational life of the wind farm until the end of March 2030.

The original application for the wind turbine was refused in October 1998, but was an appeal was then upheld in March 1999.

The three-bladed turbines are 40m high – measured to the central hub. Each blade is between 23m and 24m long.

The planning application was received by Copeland Council on March 23.

Comments on this application should be made by email to devcontrol@copeland.gov.uk.

Any comments should include the planning application reference number: 4/20/2123/0B1.

These should be made within 21 days of the application appearing on the council’s weekly list.
