An mhaidhm thalún i nDaraidh Braoin | The landslide in Derrybrien

Tá fíneáil €5 mhilliún íoctha ag an Stát leis an gCoimisiún Eorpach faoi bheartais chosanta a shárú i dtaca le hionad cumhachta gaoithe a thógáil i nDaraidh Braoin i ndeisceart na Gaillimhe.

Chomh maith leis an tsuim sin, tá fíneáil bhreise €15,000 sa ló á gearradh ar an Stát fad is atá an scéal á réiteach. Go dtí seo, €1.29 milliún atá íoctha mar gheall ar an bhfíneáil bhreise sin.

Baineann an cás le 70 tuirbín gaoithe a cuireadh suas ar Shliabh Eachtaí sa bhliain 2003.

Agus an t-ionad á thógáil tharla sciorradh mór talún ar an sliabh agus chuaigh na mílte méadar ciúbach de mhóin le fána. B’éigean bóithre a dhúnadh agus cuireadh as go mór do shaol mhuintir na háite ar feadh i bhfad.

Fochomhlacht de chuid Bhord Soláthair an Leictreachais a thóg an t-ionad agus tuigtear go bhfuil siad ag obair ann i gcónaí féachaint leis an suíomh a dhaingniú agus a thabhairt chun críche.
