Plans for a 12-turbine windfarm in Sliabh Luachra have been shot down by a High Court ruling upholding an appeal by local protesters of a decision of An Bord Pleanála.
Sliabh Luachra Wind Awareness group, opposed to the windfarm, secured a judicial review of An Bord’s planning permission for the project earlier in the year.
On Friday (20th) it was announced the review had effectively overturned An Bord’s decision upon its completion.
It comes as significant news for a number of communities in Kerry opposing similar windfarm plans.
The developers may now appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court.
