Police arrested another four people people for disobedience to a police officer after they attempted block wind turbines and construction equipment from leaving the AES facility Wednesday morning in Kalaeloa.
That brings the total number of people arrested connected to these wind farm protests to more than 100.
It happened overnight at the AES equipment yard – that’s company that’s planning to build the Na Pua Makana wind farm project.
The company is planning on building eight wind turbines that are 570 feet tall. They’ve been slowly transporting equipment and turbines from Kalaeloa to Kahuku.
It is unclear if anyone was arrested in Kahuku Wednesday morning.
Those protesting are concerned about the environmental and health impacts to the small North Shore community.
In a statement, AES’s COO Mark Miller says the company is “committed to being good neighbors to the Kahuku community,” and says he is ready to talk to anyone interested in learning more.
Concerned residents can call the AES hotline, or visit the website.
