The state Department of Environmental Protection will hold a hearing on the NPDES Water Quality Permit for the Broad Mountain Wind Power Project in Nesquehoning and Packer Twp. on Oct. 21.

The hearing will be held in the cafeteria of Weatherly Elementary/Middle School, 602 Sixth St., Weatherly, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Representatives from DEP’s Waterways and Wetlands Program and Broad Mountain Power LLC, the developer, will be in attendance.

The 80-megawatt Broad Mountain Wind Project, estimated at $145 million to $165 million to develop, features 26 turbines and related transmission line access. Upon completion, the project will produce enough electricity to power about 25,000 homes a year.

DEP requests that individuals wishing to testify at the hearing submit a written notice of intent to Colleen Connolly, community relations coordinator, by email to coconnolly@pa.gov, or by mail to Broad Mountain Wind Project Hearing, Department of Environmental Protection, Waterways and Wetlands Program, 2 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701-1915.

A notice on the hearing is in the Pennsylvania Bulletin on page 5,362.
