The infamous wind turbines

Credit:  www.capenews.net ~~

What a sad saga for this town.

Now requiring a request for qualifications, RFQ instead of the earlier request for proposal, RFP, attempted by our town hall officials. The timeline seems never-ending for this project that began somewhere around 2004. I expect that our officials plan to relocate these turbines to an out-of-town leased site that will end up costing we taxpayers even more than has already been wasted to date. Gearbox failures are a rather common experience with this type of machine.

Meanwhile, the bylaw requiring their removal within 150 days after one year of non-operation appears meaningless. There the monstrosities stand, uselessly motionless, red lights flashing, their blades now black, monuments to another failed project.
