Renewable energy company Acciona Energy is investigating the potential for two wind farm sites in Notts.
The company has submitted planning applications to site two masts in the area to gather information about potential for the future. One mast would be positioned at Clipstone Forest, near Clipstone, and the other at Blidworth Woods, south of Blidworth. Both sites are managed by the Forestry Commission.
Mike Paffey of Acciona Energy said: “There are several factors that we have to take account of when identifying potential sites for wind farm development. These include wind speeds, environmental considerations, ability to connect to the national electricity grid, as well as visual impact. Taking these factors into consideration, we have identified these two sites in Nottinghamshire as potentially suitable.”
Acciona Energy plans to erect two 80-metre test masts to collect information over a four-year period.
