Surveying crew for proposed wind project upsets local farmers

The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors heard complaints from an area farmer at their meeting Tuesday after a survey crew for a proposed wind energy project crossed his property and damaged his fields. Nate Voss says he brought the issue to the Supervisors to try and get some answers.

A spokesman for Invenergy, the developer of the proposed project in Southeastern Kossuth County, tried to address Voss’ concerns.

Supervisors Chairman Jack Plathe told Voss there wasn’t anything the board could do for him and stated that the matter belonged in Civil Court if the two parties couldn’t come to an understanding. The proposed Kossuth County Wind Energy Center would produce 250 megawatts of electricity. If the construction permits are approved by the Supervisors, construction on the project could begin as early as this summer.
