Claimed turbine support 'incredible'

I was particularly disappointed not to have been able to attend the recent open days at Cury, regarding the proposed larger wind turbines on The Lizard.
However, I find it incredible that the company involved, Cornwall Light and Power, can claim almost unanimous support for their plans.
Certainly when I discuss wind factories with friends and neighbours, there is almost unanimous opposition.
Why do we oppose them? Not because we don’t have climate concerns; not because they are noisy; and not because wind-generated energy is the most expensive. But because the whole of The Lizard Peninsula is part of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
The statutory purpose of designation of an AONB is that the conservation of the natural beauty of the landscape should have priority over development. This was strongly emphasised in the management plan published by the Cornwall AONB Partnership in 2004.
I fully expect this wind turbine proposal to be vigorously opposed by, for example, Kerrier District Council’s planning committee, Cornwall County Council, the AONB Partnership, the National Trust, the Campaign to Protect Rural England, The Lizard Peninsula Heritage Trust, and very many environmentally-concerned individuals.
