NEWMAN – Area residents can learn about the new Harvest Ridge Wind Farm at an upcoming public open house.
Developer EDP Renewables, which is based in Texas, is planning an open house from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Newman Community Center.
Educational materials will be provided, activities will be available for children and participants can sign up for door prizes, including pulled pork and brisket from local caterer Terry Payton.
“We are excited to share details about the Harvest Ridge Wind Farm with the community,” said Project Manager Amy Kurt. “We are planning a fun and educational event for everyone to learn the facts about the wind farm and the benefits it will bring to the area.”
Kurt said the proposed wind farm will create more than 250 jobs during construction and eight to 10 permanent local jobs to operate and maintain it once it is operational.
