Wind farm will hurt DeWitt County

Residents of Dewitt County, I ask you to take immediate action and find out the facts about the new wind farm that is pending approval in the county. There will be a crucial meeting on Aug. 22 to decide how to protect the residents of Dewitt County from noise, flashing red lights, shadow flicker and other safety issues.
After this date, the project will be set in stone and the wind turbines will be here for 40 years – so any objections need to be heard at this meeting. More and more residents are realizing that wind turbines have many negative side effects for the people living nearby and the entire county.
The issues being addressed at the meeting include: a way to minimize the red flashing lights that affect nearby homes all night by installing an airplane detection system; a way to minimize constant white noise to a lower DBA sound level by use of greater setbacks from the home’s property line instead of its foundation; and shadow flicker caused by blade movement, which causes a strobe-effect to some homes at certain times of the day.
I never thought much about wind turbines, but when you study them there are a lot of problems for nearby property owners. This will change the landscape of Dewitt County from a nice farming community to a giant industrial park. Please attended the meeting at 6 p.m. tonight at the DeWitt County Courthouse to support changes to protect property owners in the county. We need your support.
