Reader accuses candidates of pro-wind agendas

Credit:  Huron Daily Tribune | July 28, 2018 | www.michigansthumb.com ~~

Three former Planning Commissioners, Mary Babcock, Jeffery Krohn and Robert Oakes, now seek to continue their pro-wind agenda as county commissioners. Realizing that their goal of more wind turbines had hit a roadblock at the planning commission level, Babcock and Krohn did not seek reappointment while Oakes was reappointed, only to abruptly quit at his first meeting when the group rejected his ideas.

In the unfortunate event that these three individuals are elected as county commissioners on Aug. 7, they will be more capable than they were as planning commission members to promote their wind driven agenda, as county commissioners have the final decision making authority.

Babcock, Krohn and Oakes appear to not have heard the voices of the majority of the people they wish to represent regarding wind energy in our county and townships.

Babcock’s opponent, John Nugent, Krohn’s opponent, Mike Meissner and Oakes’ opponent, Ron Wruble, all have the best interest of our county’s residents in mind. As a side note, Oakes has publicly stated that non-farming residents should all live either in cities or along the lakeshore and not be allowed to build a home in a quiet, peaceful, scenic, rural environment as many of us have come to treasure in Huron County before wind turbines. As stated in the Huron Daily Tribune on July 14, 2018, he has issues of non-farm property owners in farmland.

So, if you would like to listen to and see more wind turbines erected too close to our homes, vote for Babcock, Krohn and Oakes. Otherwise, protect Huron County’s future on Aug. 7 by electing Meissner, Nugent and Wruble.
