The town of Hopkinton failed to adopt a law limiting where a developer can build a wind farm.
The town board was split 2 to 2 in a vote Monday night that would have restricted wind turbines from being built within 2,500 feet of neighbors and kept the turbines north of State Route 72.
Those in favor of the law said they wanted it to protect the health and safety of the community.
A spokesperson for wind farm developer Avangrid has said in the past that the proposed law was unreasonable and had no safety benefits.
