Vermont renewable energy developer David Blittersdorf has officially scuttled plans to build industrial wind turbines in the town of Irasburg.
In a letter to the Public Utility Commission Wednesday, The AllEarth Renewables CEO’s lawyer said they are withdrawing their petition for the so called Kidder Hill Community Wind project.
The commission last summer issued a ruling that the project’s application was incomplete. The two proposed 500-foot turbines would have been placed on land owned by Blittersdorf, but the project was opposed by many. Ninety-seven percent of residents voted against the plan.
Blittersdorf told Seven Days that because of new regulatory hurdles he is not pursuing any more wind or solar projects in Vermont.
But wind opponent Annette Smith says that until he drops an ongoing wind project in the town of Holland, his claims are not accurate.
