Reader speaks out against wind farms

Credit:  Letter: Feb. 13, 2018 | Journal Review | Feb 12, 2018 | www.journalreview.com ~~

Wind turbines will destroy the reason people choose to live in the country.

If you think the proposed industrial wind turbines won’t affect you, it may be time to reconsider.

The northern part of Montgomery County is just a starting place. People are now being approached in the southern part of the county by the wind farms.

Bill Gates and Warren Buffet said it best. If it weren’t for the tax credits, there would be no reason to put up wind turbines.

Everywhere you look, 1,000-foot wind turbines will be staring back at you. Yes, that statement was made by a wind farm person in September 2017. He was bragging that these turbines would be the tallest ever put up in Indiana.

Daylight hours, wind turbines are visible for 8 to 10 miles at that height.

Nighttime hours, most everyone in the county will be able to see the red flickering light show.

Nothing in Montgomery County will ever be the same. Small towns will get smaller because of wind turbines. Small businesses will leave the county.

Most wildlife will leave the area. What about effects on pets and livestock? Their hearing is better than humans, but they can’t escape. The noise, infrasound, and vibrations are something that is considered unimportant by the wind farm people. What is your family’s health worth?

Would you buy a car, truck or tractor with the same reckless abandon that you sign a wind turbine lease?

When friends, family and grandchildren ask why you allowed industrial wind turbines to be put up on the farm, what do you say?

It won’t matter, because they all moved away.

Each night everyone will get to enjoy the red sky light show.

But all is good, you have the extra wind turbine money and don’t have to buy fireworks in July anymore.

How will the loss of all the things you take for granted in Montgomery County affect you, your family and friends?

If you don’t know the answer to that, you haven’t asked enough questions.
