County takes action against wind turbines

Credit:  By Maggie Hockenberry | Oct 17, 2017 | www.illinoishomepage.net ~~

Some people living in Ford County say a wind farm could be causing fuzzy tv signal.

Now they want the county to help. Those living in Kempton say they started seeing the issues after the farm went up.

They’ve put a moratorium on any future wind turbines being built. It says for the next 120 days no new special use permits will be approved.

This will give them time to review the current ordinance. It was established back in 2009.

After months of complaints from those living in Kempton action was taken. They say they’ve had issues with tv reception from the antennas on their homes.

People we spoke with who didn’t want to be identified say it’s time for their signal to be restored.

Those we spoke with say they started seeing the problem last year when the turbines went up. Others say there’s also been concerns regarding how close one of the turbines is. All of this was brought up at the board meeting as well.

We did hear a few people in Kempton are in negotiations with the wind farm company. Some weren’t even able to comment on the issue. They say they’re hopeful a resolution will come soon.
