An appeal has been launched in a bid to gain planning permission for a wind turbine in North Lincolnshire.
North Lincolnshire Council refused permission for the turbine and associated infrastructure, earmarked for land off Horkstow Road in Horkstow, in December last year.
But the applicant, Bruce Rowles, of LFC Horkstow Ltd, has now taken the case to the Government’s Planning Inspectorate with the aim of getting the council’s decision overturned.
If successful, the turbine would have a maximum height of 58 metres to the blade tip, while construction of an access track, crane hardstanding area and underground cables would also form part of the project.
In its decision notice in December, the council said it had refused permission for the development for two reasons.
The first was that insufficient evidence had been submitted with the application to demonstrate the proposed turbine would not have an adverse effect on the integrity of the Humber Estuary Special Protection Area, especially on pink-footed geese.
The council also ruled the proposal would affect the Viking Way network of footpaths and bridleways, leading to disruption for walkers and riders.
The application met with objections from town and parish councils in Barton-Upon-Humber, Worlaby, Bonby and Saxby-All-Saints, although it was supported by Horkstow Parish Council and South Ferriby Parish Council said it did not wish to object.
The appeal will be determined by an independent planning inspector on the basis of written representations, which must be received by October 17.
