Selectmen ignoring nuisance

Credit:  Selectmen Ignoring Nuisance - Letter | The Falmouth Enterprise | June 24, 2017 | ww.capenews.net ~~

I’m a bit taken aback that Falmouth selectmen should pitch into a fray over noise in one part of town (Falmouth Enterprise—‘Falmouth Selectmen Ask Steamship Authority To Seek Alternatives To Early Morning Freight Run’) while noise determined to be a nuisance by Falmouth’s Zoning Board of Appeals goes ignored in other parts of town.

Actually, selectmen have sued the ZBA, believing the noise in my neighborhood isn’t injurious or obnoxious even though the state Department of Environmental Protection recorded wind turbine noise standard violations.

Should the determining factor of whether our town government’s leaders defend a noise nuisance depend upon what precinct you live in? Isn’t injurious or obnoxious noise a nuisance no matter what part of Falmouth you live in?

Mark J. Cool, Fire Tower Road, West Falmouth
