Insulation company Kingspan wants to erect a 126m wind turbine at its Greenfield site.
The company, which makes insulated panels on Greenfield Business Park, approached Wind Direct to make the planning application on its behalf.
The turbine plans received an unenthusiastic response from Flint town councillors, who said they were worried the height of the structure could cause problems and have a negative impact of people’s views across the countryside.
The exact location of the structure has not yet been decided, but it is thought the height of the hub would be 80m and the rotors would reach around 92m, so when spinning, the structure could reach a maximum height of 126m.
The energy created would be used directly by Kingspan and any remaining electricity given back to the National Grid.
Flint councillor Peter York said: “It would be more than 400ft tall. The police helicopter is frequently in that area chasing ne’er-do-wells. It could be a hazard.
“The company should contact the police to see if it would affect their operation.”
The company is collecting views before it puts its application in to the county’s planning committee.
