Landslide! Wind bill passes in TN Senate floor

Last week, the quest to stop the proposed Crab Orchard Wind Turbine project took a significant step forward as Bill HB1021 passed on the Tennessee State Senate Floor.
Not only did it pass, it did so by a whopping 85-3 vote!
Rep. Cameron Sexton successfully maneuvered and helped get the bill passed by a landslide in the Senate and know our bill faces the Tennessee House this week.
If the Bill passes the House, this is what it would mean:
That the State agencies will set up a review process for projects like the one proposed for Crab Orchard. As they presently don’t have one, companies like Apex Energy (would-be builders of the Crab Orchard Farm) can do anything they want if the County invites them in like Crossville Mayor Carey did – regardless of what the people want.
It also means that there is a 1-year moratorium on the construction of any wind turbines until this process is completed. So for one year, Apex would not be able to do anything while the Crab Orchard project – and any others – are reviews. Part of the review will be public input.
This is very good sign that our bill was widely accepted by our elected State leaders outside of the Cumberland County Commissioners who seem to frozen in limbo by our Mayor and refuse to put peoples safety first rather then money.
Thank God for common sense in our State house since it is drastically lacking in our Cumberland County government at present. Hopefully with a election not to far off, better heads will prevail and we can get some leadership in place that will again put people first and interest of big business in the place where it belongs.
