Permission refused for large wind turbine on Gaoth Dobhair Industrial Estate

Donegal County Council has refused an application to erect a wind turbine at the Gaoth Dobhair Industrial estate.
The application had led to protest meeting due to the size of the wind turbine proposed for the area.
The application had been submitted by Lír Energy, Galway was refused to by Donegal CoCo.
However local county councillor Michael Mac Giolla Easbuig said he fears there masy be new applications.
“I fear that the campaign is not over yet. Fair play to those who organised around it,” he posted on Facebook.
A local group, Stad an Tuirbín Gaoithe Working Group, were opposed to the plan.
In a statement, they said they are “opposed to this turbine on the basis of its scale and size”. The turbine height is 85m, rotor diameter os 77m, and blade tip height is 123.5m.
