HOUNSFIELD, N.Y. – A global investment and advisory firm is proposing a 250 megawatt wind farm project on Galloo Island. Attorney for Upstate NY Power Corporation says early estimates show the proposed project would provide more than 110,000 average homes with energy.
The company has received permission from the Town of Hounsfield to temporarily set up wind monitoring towers on the island. The monitoring will take approximately 18 months.
The company has an option to buy the island which is currently up for sale.
