Buying votes in Windham County

This is unbelievable. Iberdrola, the giant corporate conglomerate based in Spain that develops wind turbine sites around the world, declared to the people of Windham at a meeting there Tuesday that, if the majority of voters in that town vote to approve a large wind turbine development there, Iberdrola will directly pay each registered voter there, not landowners, not residents, but voters, over $1,000 a year for 20 years.
Apparently, this is how business is conducted in Spain, which has a corrupt, hardly functioning government. Big money throughout little Vermont has now found a fantastic way to promote, defeat or get anything they want by simply guaranteeing to pay the voters afterward if the vote goes their way.
