Searsmont – Selectmen are holding a public hearing today, Oct. 4, to give residents the opportunity to comment on a proposed six-month extension to the town’s Wind Energy Facility Moratorium Ordinance that was approved at this year’s town meeting.
The town’s Planning Board requested the extension to give members more time to complete work on a Wind Energy Facility Ordinance.
The ordinance was in effect for 180 days from the date of its adoption and, according to the warrant article, the town’s zoning ordinance did not make it clear if wind facilities were permitted.
Selectmen will hold the public hearing at 6 p.m. at the Town Office.
