Turbines infringe on way of life

Are the residents of Chautauqua County aware of the massive effort/plan to industrialize rural Chautauqua County by our state and local officials?
There has been minimal transparency, public awareness or input, regarding this ill-conceived, misguided placement of wind farm projects within our boundaries; 138 industrial scale turbines, fragmenting 100,000-plus acres of pristine land. Cassadaga Wind, Ball Hill Wind and Arkwright Summit, stretching from Arkwright, Charlotte, Sinclairville, Cherry Creek, Villenova, Hanover and possibly Randolph. Many of these 500 ft. behemoths will be placed 1,000 to 1,500 feet from homes.
Emerging consensus from experts, recommend a minimum of one – even five – mile turbine setbacks from dwellings until safe distances can be determined. They are demanding long overdue, unbiased health studies. Germany’s Medical Association and Rumford Hospital Maine physicians are examples of doctors worldwide, calling for moratoriums on industrial wind farms, due to many health problems experienced from unsafe turbine siting (too close to dwellings).
Germany actually increased CO2 emissions with industrial wind use due to its unreliable nature; need for coal/fossil fuel back-up. Germany’s Der Spiegal reports, “Germany’s CO2 emissions haven’t been reduced by a single gram, and additional coal and gas fired plants have been constructed to ensure reliable delivery.” Wind power is a supplement to fossil fuel, not a replacement. Denmark, the most wind-dependent nation, has yet to close a fossil fuel plant. Flemming Nissen, head of ELSAM – Denmark’s largest energy utility states, “wind turbines do not reduce CO2 emissions.” Aase Madsen, the Chair of Energy Policy-Danish Parliament, calls industrial wind, “a terribly expensive disaster.”
Home-scale wind turbines, solar and off-grid energy sources actually make a lot more sense environmentally, socially and economically. Also, geo-thermal, tidal and wave energy, need research/consideration, along with increased energy efficiency and conservation.
We owe it to our families and future generations to make sound, responsible, educated decisions regarding this. We have time to do the transition to Green Energy right. Unfortunately, most of the Green from Big Wind is not about protecting our environment but lining someone’s pockets.
