Norway’s energy ministry has overturned a decision to allow Germany’s E.ON to build an 80-megawatt wind power park, the government said in a statement, adding that environmental concerns had triggered the decision.
The country’s regulator NVE granted permission to build the wind power park in southern Norway in 2014, but it was appealed by the local Birkenes community.
The request to build wind turbines was rejected on grounds of their potential impact on landscape and birds, the ministry added. (Reporting by Nerijus Adomaitis, editing by Terje Solsvik) |
