Report on wind turbines in County Donegal requested by Minister Coveney
An expert from Dublin Technological Institute has been appointed by the Minister of Housing, Planning and Local Government Simon Coveney to make a report about planning conditions for wind turbines in County Donegal.
Two years ago, the Donegal County Council set that wind turbines would be sited at a distance 10 times their height from dwellings in the county.
Alan Kelly, the Environment Minister at the time, refused to accept that condition, however.
But an appeal made by County Councillor John Campbell succeeded in the High Court two months ago against Alan Kelly’s decision. The High Court set aside Alan Kelly’s decision and directed Minister Coveney to make new recommendations.
In that context, the expert Hendrik W van der Kamp has been appointed by Simon Coveney to make a report to him within two weeks about wind turbines in Donegal.
