Plan to build huge wind turbine near Scunthorpe refused

North Lincolnshire Council has refused an application to build a tall wind turbine near Scunthorpe.

Permission was sought by the Farm Energy Partnership to erect the 500kw structure, with a blade tip height of 77 metres on land west of North Moor Lane, Yaddlethorpe, Bottesford.

A North Lincolnshire Council assessment report by planning staff said objections had been received from two properties in Messingham and from Messingham Parish Council, while Bottesford Town Council had asked the local planning authority to ensure there was no noise pollution or impact on Bottesford Beck.

Rejecting the application, the council told the Farm Energy Partnership that the proposed turbine development failed to accord with a recent ministerial statement and updated planning guidance on renewable and low carbon energy “because the development is not on land which is allocated within the local development plan for wind energy development and does not have the backing of the local community.”

A company refused planning permission by a local council has the right to lodge an appeal.
