Cape Wind disputes grounds for denial

The company proposing to build 130 wind turbines in the waters of Nantucket Sound has responded to a draft decision to deny the project, recommended by a Cape Cod Commission subcommittee last week.

The full Cape Cod Commission will vote on the project proposed by Cape Wind Associates today at its regular meeting in the Chamber of the Assembly of Delegates at the Barnstable District Courthouse on Route 6A in Barnstable. The meeting begins at 3 p.m.

The commission subcommittee cited Cape Wind’s unwillingness to allow for more time for the decision and a lack of information about the project as reasons for denial.

Cape Wind claims in its letter sent to commission planner Phil Dascombe on Tuesday that the available record and time were sufficient for the commission to make a decision.
