The directors of Keep Kent Scenic have decided to remove the signs – Save Our Farms, Save Our Homes, Save Kent County – that were placed around the county to protest the proposed Mills Branch wind turbine project.
Now that Apex Clean Energy has changed course and applied to construct a 330-acre solar field near Chesterville, putting the wind project on hold, it is an appropriate time to take down the signs. However, should Apex decide to pursue a wind turbine project again, the signs will certainly reappear.
Keep Kent Scenic thanks all those supporters who put signs in their yards, farm fields and businesses to help draw attention to the wind turbine issue.
Removal of the signs does not mean Keep Kent Scenic is going away. Be assured, the group will remain vigilant to protect our working landscapes, our cultural heritage and our local zoning ordinances from incompatible projects.
