No turbines in national forest

Regarding the proposed 17 turbine wind generation facility planned for Searsburg and Readsboro, it seems many people are missing the big picture. These 410′ tall turbines would be built on 80 acres of pristine ridgeline in the Green Mountain National Forest. If this project is allowed to go through, it would set a detrimental precedent for our state and others.

Alternate energy sources are needed and should be developed, but a wooded ridgeline in a national forest is definitely not the right place for a wind energy project. Forestland in a national forest should be protected from development for future generations.

As citizens of Vermont, we need to ask ourselves what we want Vermont to look like in 10 years, or 50 years. Do we want our beautiful ridgelines cluttered with wind turbines or condominiums or anything other than trees? We live in the Green Mountain State. Let’s keep it that way.
