New rural Ireland group moves to stop some TDs getting re-elected

A new group aimed at preserving rural Ireland have launched a campaign to stop certain TDs getting re-elected.
The anti-pylon and wind farm group say that some politicians are ‘toxic’ for rural Ireland.
They say that 2020 energy targets for Ireland could be reached without turbines and pylons by converting Moneypoint station in Co Clare to sustainable biomass.
Chairman of Protect Rural Ireland, Henry Fingleton, says that some politicians – including Alan Kelly, Alex White, Charlie Flanagan, Emmet Stagg, Bernard Durkan and Marcella Corcoran-Kennedy – are toxic for rural Ireland.
“We intend to unseat politicians who continue to support a policy of building wind turbines and pylons around Ireland” he said.
“We believe these politicians are toxic to rural Ireland, they are overseeing a policy which is incredibly damaging to our landscape, to our environment, to the rural communities who are forced to live in this – and that those politicians are doing a disservice and they need to be unseated” he added.
And Mr Fingleton said more will follow.
