Wind developers interested in building any projects in Eddington have a new list of regulations to follow. Voters in Eddington overwhelmingly supported the towns wind energy facilities ordinance during a town meeting vote Tuesday night. The ordinance includeds 1 mile setbacks for large scale wind turbines, height restrictions of 400 feet, and noise levels not to exceed 50 decibels during the day and 40 decibels at night. Criticis say the ordinance would essentially ban large scale wind projects, but planning board vice chairwoman Susan Dunham Shane pointed out that any developer still has the right under the ordinance to get waivers from abbutting property owners. She says the vote mirrored the same kind of support she’s seen in public hearings. “I think it was a good discourse and we were just pleased to have it done we were prepared to go back to the drawing board but we would have demanded a lot more pubic input if that was the case,” Dunham Shane said. The wind ordinance is now in effect.
