Turbine scheme will face local, national opposition

Plans by “Community Windpower” to build 20 giant wind turbines with access roads, a site compound, control room and sub-station near Roughtor and Crowdy Reservoir will meet strong local and national opposition – as the large turnout at Clease Hall, Camelford, recently showed.
The views to Roughtor, Brown Willy – Cornwall’s highest point – and Crowdy will be totally spoilt, as will the historic Davidstow Airfield, which itself is an area the local community and visitors enjoy for its vast sense of space and light.
This company, which wishes to be so open and transparent and to engage with the local community, never bothered to notify local residents of its open exhibitions.
It just wishes to grab as much “green pound” in grants and subsidies for itself and the landowners, and desecrate an area of outstanding natural beauty, turning it into an industrial landscape.
The photographs used in its propaganda are a disgrace. They do not show the views that will be destroyed.
Go to Davidstow Airfield on a pleasant day to see what will be lost. These giant turbines will devastate the wildlife and migrating birds, and ruin the enjoyment of Roughtor and Brown Willy.
If this development is allowed, the planners might as well say “build anywhere in Cornwall – we don’t care”.
If you are passionate about the beauty of Cornwall, then stand up and fight for it before it’s too late.
