Enercon strike postponed as workers offered pay deal

A planned strike at Tralee-based windfarm servicing firm Enercon has been postponed pending a meeting of workers this week.
The Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union which represents Enercon workers had served strike notice on the company, which has its headquarters at Kerry Technology Park, following a dispute over pay and allowances.
More than 100 Enercon workers were due to begin a 72-hour work stoppage at locations throughout Ireland on Fridayt but this was postponed following the receipt of new proposals on pay and conditions from the company.
The TEEU is demanding the introduction of a pay structure that reflects significant increases in wages.
It also wants the restoration of the net value of allowances paid to its members prior to changes which the unions says were unilaterally implemented by the company in early January.
Enercon staff and TEEU representatives will meet at the union’s Dublin offices on Saturday March 28 to discuss the new proposals from the company.
TEEU’s regional secretary Pat Guilfoyle, said that the union “remains committed to achieving proper pay and conditions of employment for our members in Enercon.
Enercon have declined to comment on the matter.
