Kimbolton: Bicton wind farm is rejected for the second time

A bid to build a wind farm at Kimbolton has been thrown out – again.

Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, refused Broadview Energy permission for the three wind turbines near the Bicton industrial estate, and backed a decision by a planning inspector.

It was the second time Broadview had appealed again refusal of a wind farm, having reduced the number of proposed turbines from four.

Huntingdonshire District Council had ruled against the wind farm because of its impact on the area.

The Stop Bicton Wind Farm Action Group said they were “delighted” by the decision.

Huntingdon MP Jonathan Djanogly said: “This is a victory for common sense.”

Neighbouring MP Shailesh Vara also welcomed the decision and described the wind farm as “inappropriate”.
