Big blow for wind turbine scheme

Controversial plans for three wind turbines at a West Lancashire beauty spot have been blocked by planners.
The application by Damian Culshaw to build three wind turbines on Cliff’s Farm, on Mawdesley Moss, was turned down by a majority vote.
Chorley Borough Council refused the application on the grounds that it was an inappropriate development within Green Belt land.
The planning committee’s decision was greeted by clapping by some of the 40-plus crowd who turned up.
Protest group Mawdesley Against Wind Farms (MAWF) chairman Barry Bibby, who spoke at the meeting, said: “This is good news for Mawdesley and people who use the Moss.
“ The impact on the local environment and amenities is not worth damaging for a quick buck.”
Damian Culshaw also spoke at the meeting, as did his father, ex-Chorley borough councillor Frank Culshaw, who owns Cliff’s Farm, and a representative from Campaign to Protect Rural England.
Damian Culshaw said: “It’s a bad decision for us, Chorley and the environment.
“ We are disappointed that the committee couldn’t see beyond the narrow interests of a few local protestors.”
