Hill Rig windfarm campaign begins again

The fight to stop a windfarm being built near Kilncadzow has begun again – less than two months after councillors threw out the plans.

The original Hill Rig Windfarm application, by Community Windpower Ltd, saw 230 letters of objection to the plans which would have seen the erection of eight turbines measuring 130 metres in height, roughly the size of the Forth Road Bridge.

Another major blow for the company came when aviation authority NATS (formerly known as the National Air Traffic Services) announced it was objecting to the plans.

However, that has not stopped Community Windpower Ltd from pressing on with a new application, which it states will be submitted in the ‘near future’.

Indeed the company has already organised public exhibitions in Carluke and Carnwath for later this week for locals to look at the company’s plans.

For more on this story pick up a copy of this week’s Carluke Gazette which is in the shops now.
