A provincial Environmental Review Tribunal involving Suncor’s 46-turbine Cedar Point wind power project got back underway in Camlachie Tuesday.

The tribunal, which began in November, is expected to hear closing arguments Feb. 19, say members of We’re Against Industrial Turbines – Plympton-Wyoming (WAIT-PW), a local group opposing the project.

Hearing dates continue at the Camlachie Community Centre, starting at 10 a.m., for the rest of the week, officials said.

Suncor project officials were expected to speak Tuesday.

The Bryce family and Lambton County are appealing the provincial government’s environmental approval of the wind project Suncor Energy plans to build in Plympton-Wyoming, Lambton Shores and Warwick Township.

At issue are concerns about potential adverse health affects from turbines, and charges that the provincial approval process violates the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

A recently released Health Canada study found no link between exposure to wind turbine noise and adverse human health. It did find a relationship between increasing levels of wind turbine noise and annoyance.
